 New Weapons

I was creating a new char and decided to do a weapon master (whip) when i noticed that there are no whips for sale in taggets or in dunland. Also starting browsing around the weapons available to players and there are not enough choices for any other "exotic" weapon.
There are not enough Sickles, Kamas, Kukris, Scythes, Whips.... i could go on. So i decided to create them myself and later Tree can balance them if she thinks they are overpower or anything else. (is that ok Tree? Wink )

That's perfect my dear. Just make a range of them from 1- 5+ and mail them to me. Make sure their tag and res ref all have your initials in them. (example gm_whip1, gm_whip2 ect)

It strikes me that exotic weapons such as Aule has mentioned, should only be available in limited places. For that matter, I'd like to re-raise the issue of racially-favoured weapons being available in appropriate areas.

So, for instance, purchasing a Longsword from Tagget's should be a normal occurance, but if someone wants a +5 Longsword of Orc Slaying, I suggest such an item should only be available from the Elven lands. On the other hand, Exotic weapons (such as a Kukri) should only be available from the tribes or people who use them (the natives of the Druadin Forest perhaps?) and exceptional versions even more so.

I'm not saying you should never be able to buy an axe (or other 'common' weapon) anywhere but the Dwarven kingdoms, or a longbow anywhere but Lothlorien (or perhaps Mirkwood) but certainly all the exceptional versions of such weapons should only be available from the crafts-people who specialise in such weapons.

Human Smiths should be able to add up to a +2 bonus to any weapon, armour or item, reflecting the human ability to dabble in all skills, but anything higher requires a Smith of the appropriate race... and they should only be accessable when a PC has done the 'Racial-friend' quests we were talking about.

I don't think we have too much of a problem with that right now? At the moment most of the exotic weapons are just plain scarce. And Aule was talking about the fact that there are no non magical whips in either starting areas. I am sure there are a few exotic weapons I do not have enough of in game. NOT heavy magical ones, just things like the +1 thru +5 damage weapons.

There is a +1 whip for sale in bree....you just have to have shady morals Very Happy

It makes sense to have fewer of those weaps since their EXOTIC...
Altought i dont think players who choose to use them should be "penalized" with having one or two good choices.

Im working on "themed" weapons. Something like you see on pnp... Like the "Howling Blade": It emits a constant howl so we add sonic dmg to it and decrease skill Hide, MS and concentration. Think you got the idea....

Also tought about EPIC (by that i mean famous relics not overpower) weapons. Blades used in the GREAT WAR, Staffs made of the bones of ancient dragons (ancalagon for instance). They all should be rare loot or even reward for epic rping. They are simple things but it will add to the "magic" of the server. Who wouldnt like to have a dagger made of one of Ancalagons nail?
I sure would, even if i didnt use it. (yes yes.. i like to collect spoils)
